However, it broke under the first heavy load and became very slow.  I had to upgrade the VPS because we needed the additional memory and CPU time.
I could try turning off gzip compression (as that seems to be a major issue for all servers) and see if it helps. The main benefits it provides aren&#039;t really the text compression or minification.  It makes it easier to combine javascript and css files (and reduces the first byte times significantly for most sites by caching the html and eliminating the database lookups).
